Now Monica Lewinsky is also attacking Beyoncé
Criticism of Beyoncé’s lyrics continues. After the pop star had to adapt a song for disability reasons, Monica Lewinsky demands that Beyoncé change a song line about her.
No rest for Beyoncé (40): The US pop star just had to change a line of the song “Heated”, which appeared on his new album “Renaissance”. In it, Beyoncé used the word “spaz,” which is often colloquially used pejoratively in connection with people suffering from a cerebral movement disorder. “The word that was not intentionally used in a hurtful way will be replaced,” said a spokesman for the singer.
Now Monica Lewinsky (49) also speaks up on Twitter: “Hmm, while we’re at it … #Partition.” The former White House intern wants Beyoncé to adapt her 2014 song “Partition” and drop her name from the lyrics. In the song, the pop star refers to Lewinsky’s affair with former US President Bill Clinton (75). The scandal even led to the initiation of impeachment proceedings against Clinton in 1998. However, he was acquitted and remained in office.
In the song, which is about wildly making out with a man in the back of a car, Beyoncé sings, “He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse. He Monica Lewinsky-ed all on my gown», in German: «He undid all my buttons and tore my blouse. He Monica Lewinsky te everything on my dress.”

Lewinsky fans celebrate the activist’s claim on social media. “Monica Lewinsky was manipulated and sexualized by the media and the President of the United States as a 24-year-old,” said a Twitter user. Another defended Beyoncé, referring to the other songs that mention Lewinsky’s name: “It’s funny how you don’t say anything about all the male musicians who also sing about you in their songs. But with Beyoncé, you draw a line.”
In fact, the name Monica Lewinsky has been used more often than almost any other name of a famous person, especially in American songs. She is mentioned by name in almost forty rap songs alone, explains Lewinsky in a highly acclaimed Ted Talk. No wonder that the entrepreneur uses the self-ironic title “Rap Song Muse” in her Twitter biography.
Beyoncé herself has not yet commented on Monica Lewinsky’s criticism.
