New York: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the Silver Line in Kerala will become a reality tomorrow if not today. He was speaking at the business and investment meet at the American Regional Conference of the Lok Kerala Sabha.

The K Rail project is in the process of getting central approval, various pressures have come to the center demanding that K Rail should not be given approval. So the plan is now unrealized. But it will be a reality, he said. The Chief Minister said that the need for high-speed train was realized by the good reception of the Vande Bharat train introduced by the Central Government.

The Chief Minister also informed that central permission has been received to acquire land for Kozhikode airport runway development. The government is considering bringing in an old age policy considering the needs of non-resident Malayalis. Many expatriates are interested in investing in Kerala. The government will take steps to attract them to Kerala. Although the demand of expatriates to include Malayalam as a foreign language in the American curriculum should be considered, the state government has some limitations in this regard. This can only be progressed if there is central assistance. The Chief Minister said that the demand for a US chapter of the Malayalam Mission will be discussed.
