CNE continues to delay decision on the accounts of the recall against Quintero

Although the promoters of the recall against Daniel Quintero They were sure that between this Wednesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 7, the National Electoral Council (CNE) would finally make a decision in the process of certifying the financial statements of the recall committee, they returned to being left with the frizzy facts.

According to what EL COLOMBIANO learned, although the magistrates did discuss the issue today, they didn’t make any decision and the plenary session was summoned again for next Tuesday, April 19.

In other words, although the CNE lifted on April 5 the suspension of the process of certifying the accounts of the committee promoting the initiative, which had been stopped since January 18, for practical purposes, the recall process against the mayor of Medellin remains on hold.

The CNE must determine if the promoters of the recall violated or not any of the limits established for the collection of support, which in this case is $236 million. The certification of the accounts of the recall committee is the last requirement that is needed for the polls to be called on a day in which the future of the president will be decided.

Time continues to play in favor of the mayor, Assuming that the certification finally arrives, there would be other steps such as the designation of resources from the Ministry of Finance to advance the day, a process that can last a month or more.
