The young Frenchwoman Coline Fay, arrested on November 17 while participating in a demonstration in support of opponent Ousmane Sonko in Dakar, was finally released on Thursday evening and deported to France, announced one of his lawyers, Cheikh Koureyssi Ba. “Coline Fay released (..) and expelled from the national territory by order of the Ministry of the Interior,” we can read on the lawyer’s Facebook page. A release confirmed by another of his advisers, Juan Branco.

This 26-year-old physiotherapist demonstrated in front of the Supreme Court in Dakar during a peaceful rally in support of Ousmane Sonko and was arrested at the end of the demonstration. She had been placed in preventive detention for acts and maneuvers likely to compromise public security and conspiracy against state authority before being charged again last week for attempting to illegally leave correspondence.
