European stock indices recorded strong losses at the close of trading today, Wednesday, as follows:
- The Stoxx 600 index is down by 1.9% at the close of trading.
- The British index, the FTSE 100, also declined by 1.9% by the end of trading.
- The Spanish IBEX index is the least declining among European stocks, falling by about 1.1% at the close.
- The German DAX index is down by up to 2%.
- The French CAC index fell by 1.7% by the end of the European session.
- The Italian MIB index is the biggest loser among European stocks by about 2.4% at the close of trading.
It should be noted that the European stock indices had closed lower at the close of trading yesterday, Tuesday, affected by the losses in shares of major luxury goods companies and weak data from the Swiss bank Julius Baer Wealth Management, in light of investors’ anticipation of developments in the crisis of the US public debt ceiling, as the STOXX index fell. The European 600 rose 0.6%, recording the largest daily loss in almost 3 weeks.
