Dr. Gamal Shaaban, a professor of cardiology and former dean of the Heart Institute, said that 25% of Egyptians suffer from high blood pressure, and the largest percentage is found in the major governorates, adding: This is frightening and cause for concern, especially as it causes the death of many young people now.
Shaaban added, during his meeting with the media, Iman Abu Talib, on the “Bil Khat Al-Areed” program on Al-Hayat satellite channel, on Friday evening, that high pressure is a gateway to heart disease, explaining that kidney failure in Egypt is due to blood pressure, not water pollution.
