CO’Met Orléans Open: A New Era for the Challenger ATP 125

2023-07-09 15:17:30

On Monday July 3, Didier Gérard, Director of the Orléans Open, had the pleasure of presenting to
communities and companies the 18th edition of the Challenger ATP 125. In 2023, the tournament changes
of name, room and organization. The CO’Met Orléans Open will take place from September 25th to the 1st
October at the CO’Met Arena.

AN EDITION UNDER THE SIGN OF CHANGE

As announced last November, the 18th edition of the Challenger ATP 125 will take place from
this year in the CO’Met Arena in Orléans, thanks in particular to the support of 2 partners, the
Orléans Town Hall and Orléans Event. The tournament moved from the Palais des Sports which was getting old
and was no longer suitable for the needs of the event.

In order to promote its 2 title co-partners, as many tournaments do, the Orléans Open
changes its name and is now called CO’Met Orléans Open, a name that can be read as well in
French than in English.
The new logo, designed by Forces Motrices, recalls that of the Arena and retains the same colors
(black and red) than the old one.

The 18th edition of CO’Met Orléans Open will take place from Monday September 25th to Sunday October 1st
2023. Tickets will be available for purchase online in early September.

8 DAYS OF COMPETITION

The qualifications (free and open to all) will take place on Sunday 24 and Monday 25 September at the club
of Saint-Cyr-en-Val.
In addition, this year, on Sunday September 24, spectators will have the privilege of attending
free of charge, at the CO’Met Arena, in 4 qualifying matches (singles).
Singles matches will start on Monday 25th and doubles matches on Tuesday 26th September.
To comply with ATP rules for Challengers tournaments, CO’Met Orléans Open will host all
matches of the week and training at 2 sites:

The Arena: For all singles matches and some doubles matches on Center Court, a
part of the training on the Saint Cyr en Val US Tennis annex court: doubles matches, training

32 singles players, 16 qualifiers and 16 pairs of doubles will participate in the 18th
edition of the tournament. Registrations will be made online for the qualifications, which suggests homogeneous and high-level qualifications.
CO’Met Orléans Open and the French Tennis Federation may award 3 Wild Cards for the
final draw in singles, 3 in qualification and 3 in doubles.

The names of the 32 players will be known on Tuesday September 5, the ATP not revealing the list of players
registered only three weeks before the tournament.
Didier Gérard has no doubt that the reputation of the tournament, magnified by its Ambassador, Sébastien
Grosjean (also Captain of the French Davis Cup team and responsible for the men’s Olympic delegation for the Olympic Games), will once again allow the arrival of many players from the Top 100. The level of the tournament (and the cut) should still be very high.

Bruno Cardey signs the table and the tournament poster

For this 18th edition, Bruno Cardey’s painting was chosen to illustrate the poster. It will be awarded to the singles winner.

From 1975 to 1979, Bruno Cardey studied at the Beaux-arts in Orléans. In December 1979, the year of his military service, he painted and exhibited his paintings at the Senate in Paris, then at Saint Pierre le Puellier in Orléans where, during an artists’ competition organized by the city, he received the ” Prize of the City of Orleans”.
In 1980, he began a career as an illustrator, specializing in hyperrealism and Pop
Art. For more than 15 years, he practiced his art on a daily basis. In 1996, he joined forces with Alain Foulquier to create their own communication agency: “Forces Motrices”.
He then put a brake on his intensive practice of drawing, without abandoning it. He puts his
creativity for the benefit of the multiple supports and graphic techniques offered by the world today
communication.

In blue tones, the painting represents the facade of the Arena and the City of Orléans by night, the 2
title partners of the event. We see a comet, represented by a tennis ball, crossing
the sky. Unlike past years, when Didier Gérard left the artist free to his imagination, he
hoped this year that the table represents the big change of the tournament.
