Commemoration of the International Francophonie Day: March 20, 2023 in Mauritania

The National Commission for Education, Science and Culture organized a ceremony to commemorate the International Day of La Francophonie on March 20, 2023, in the premises of the UTM.

The official opening of this ceremony was marked by the following points:

* Reading of a Quranic verse

* The reading of Mounaya’s poem paying homage to the late Ahmed O/ Hamza for his efforts in the service of the Francophonie

* Short sequences presented by students essentially revolving around certain moral lessons aimed at consolidating national unity and the importance of good time management

Then a word from the president of the Mauritanian Francophonie Association who, after paying tribute to the late Ahmed O/Hamza, emphasized the role of French in strengthening equality, complementarity and equality within society.

Then a word from the French Ambassador to Mauritania who, after thanking the National Commission for Education, Science and Culture for the efforts it has made to commemorate the International Francophonie Day, emphasized the importance of multilingualism and the role of the French language in spreading culture by interacting with other languages ​​such as Arabic, Pullar, Soninke and Wolof.

And finally, an opening word delivered by the MEN who underlined the importance of French in communication and in education in Mauritania, appreciated the French language as a source of wealth
