The announcement of the Ministry of Health and Population, that two cases were infected with the new variant of the “EG-5.2” Corona virus, raised many questions about the common symptoms of the new variant.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Health announced that the results of analyzes from centers that monitor cases of influenza-like diseases, acute respiratory diseases, and pneumonia confirmed two positive cases of the Covid-19 virus of the EG-5.2 Omicron strain.
The ministry said that the clinical symptoms that appeared on them are mild and that they are recovering.

According to the Ministry of Health, the symptoms of infection with the new variant are minor, and there are no medical recommendations to take any additional measures.

For its part, the Ministry of Health said that the preventive medicine sector applies an accurate system for monitoring acute respiratory diseases nationwide, with the aim of early detection of pathogens and identifying any changes in infection factors, through several programmes, including routine monitoring, and it is applied in 450 hospitals nationwide. Where cases of influenza-like diseases, acute respiratory diseases, and pneumonia are reported on a regular and regular basis, throat and nose swabs are taken from cases that meet the case definition, and an examination is performed for influenza, Covid-19, and mixed respiratory virus for all samples.
The Ministry also applies programs to monitor selected sites in several hospitals geographically distributed in the Arab Republic of Egypt, including monitoring influenza-like diseases in outpatient clinics and is applied in 12 medical facilities, and monitoring acute respiratory diseases for patients kept in internal departments and is applied in 17 medical facilities, where Throat and nose swab samples are taken, and an examination for influenza, Covid-19 and respiratory syncytial virus is carried out for all samples on a regular basis.
