Governor Thomas Stelzer (VP) announced a financial aid package for Upper Austria’s municipalities on Monday in the OÖN. Details are currently being worked out.
SP state party leader Michael Lindner is skeptical in advance. Stelzer had mentioned a special tranche of allocation funds as a possible aid option. “This would mean that Stelzer would again be grabbing community money with both hands,” says Lindner. Because these so-called BZ funds are money that, according to financial equalization, the municipalities are entitled to anyway.
In the overall system of community financing, FC funds would only play a subordinate role, says Lindner. Sustainable solutions can only be achieved by reducing the enormous payments such as the hospital contribution or the state levy.
