“Sophie Ellis-Bextor” danced glittering across the stage in WUK and made us feel nothing but the best emotions!

It glittered and sparkled in every nook and cranny when I entered the Viennese WUK on that Saturday evening. A lot of people got ready for a disco-pop evening with “Sophie Ellis-Bextor”. To get into the right mood, support artist “holiday sidewinder“The stage promptly at 8 p.m. She danced across the dance floor in a short dress and warmed us up with good pop songs. Admittedly, not everyone listened to her attentively, but had all sorts of things to discuss and at that point I simply hoped that they would have their topics ready by the time the main artist started.

There was a crackling in the air in the sold-out wuk – people were jostling to get a perfect spot and there was hardly any room left anyway. And then, suddenly, the lights went out and a huge cheer went up from the audience. The band appeared on stage with masks, started playing and then the woman we were all waiting for was finally there: “sophie ellis-bextor“! It started with the Alcazar cover “Crying at the Discoteque” and “Sophie Ellis-Bextor” danced from one corner of the stage to the other in a gold glitter dress. I was amazed: she was constantly smiling and dancing as if she were 18 years old. We continued with the Cher cover “Take Me Home” and for a moment I was afraid we would only experience a cover show. But then she also delighted us with her own songs – and with “hypnotized” even with a choreography! For “Young Blood,” the singer even sat down with a guitarist to calmly perform the quiet song. During “Hearing in Color” Ellis-Bextor disappeared – only to appear at the end in a new outfit, namely a pink bodysuit with glittery ribbons! The evening became even more glamorous!

In between, Sophie Ellis-Bextor always made a few announcements, for example telling us that her mom was also there that evening. and she told us the highlights that she had experienced in Vienna, including that she found out that the snow globe was invented in Vienna. and that we must be the real inventors of croissants because she liked them so much.

In addition to the announcements, we were mainly there because of the very good and increasingly engaging music – after her hit “Get Over You” things really took off because “Sophie Ellis Bextor” surprised us with a hit medley of a very special kind! starting with “lady (hear me tonight”), leading into “groovejet” and continued with “can’t fight this feeling” and at this point the mood was really boiling! “why does it feel so good” was what Sophie always sang again in between and for me that was already the overall concept of the evening. Everyone was dancing and everyone was throwing their arms up! But the real ecstasy followed with the abba cover “gimme, gimme, gimme (a man after midnight)” – it was As if there was going to be an explosion, the atmosphere was so incredibly charged!

It continued with more hit covers, including Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” and an always happy, dancing “Sophie Ellis-Bextor”. and then, when everyone’s cell phones went up, the over-the-top hit “Murder on the Dancefloor” followed. The smooth dance song couldn’t necessarily surpass the hit medley, but it still brought a lot of joy to the concert room. The arms were up and swung back and forth, people sang along and celebrated! And I also danced more than I had in a long time and cried with joy that I could take part in this moment.

At the end we were also able to look forward to encores: “Bittersweet” from the stage and then, at the very end, the queen of 00s dance music appeared on a riser at the FOH: she sang without a microphone and only with guitar accompaniment! And everyone present was completely quiet and that was one of the most beautiful experiences of the evening: everyone acknowledged “Sophie Ellis-Bextor” with complete silence and attention, which of course resulted in endless applause. what a beautiful evening, what a great artist!
