The Democratic Party of Korea has decided to request Lee Jae-myung, who was summoned by the prosecution, to not appear at the prosecution.

Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party, said that he had reached this conclusion after meeting with reporters after an emergency general meeting of the members of the National Assembly today.

“At this point, we agreed to convey to Chairman Lee that it is not appropriate for the party leader to attend and investigate, and it is desirable to replace it with a written investigation,” said floor leader Park.

He also explained, “The party leadership had a preliminary opinion the previous evening and this morning, and the leadership almost agreed on, and as a result of meeting and discussing with senior officials above the fourth line at lunch today, the same opinion was reached,” he explained.

“It is ultimately for the president to decide, but since all the members of the Supreme Council agreed with the will of the four-term and higher ranks and the consensus, I think the party leader will fully accept the party’s opinion.”

At the same time, the Democratic Party decided to push for a special prosecutor at the National Assembly on suspicions of fraudulent career records of President Yun Seok-yeol’s wife, Kim Gun-hee and manipulation of Deutsche Motors stock prices.

“At a time when public suspicions (related to Mrs. Kim) are growing, investigative agencies are consistently taking care of them,” said floor leader Park.
