Congress approves record aid package for Ukraine

The US House of Representatives voted on an additional aid package for Ukraine worth an unprecedented $40 billion.

Last week, US President Joe Biden announced his country’s intention to provide additional funds to the Kyiv authorities, indicated that the funds allocated by Congress for such assistance were running out, and called on lawmakers “immediately” to approve the request sent by his administration earlier to provide Ukraine with 33 billion new dollars.

Before that, the main US media wrote that as a result of the discussions, congressional leaders reached an agreement on allocating $39.8 billion in aid to Ukraine, which is about $7 billion more than the amount requested by the US president.

According to available information, the expanded package includes an additional 3.4 billion for military aid and the same amount for humanitarian aid.
