Congress-CPI clash in Alappuzha: Public prosecutor arrested

Alappuzha: The public prosecutor of the Mavelikkara court was arrested during the Congress-CPI clash in Charummootty. Solomon, who is also a member of the CPI district council, was arrested in connection with the attack on the Congress office. Eighteen people have been arrested so far in the case.

The clash erupted last Wednesday over the erection of a CPI flagpole near the Charummoodu Congress block committee office. Later, the Congress office was vandalized. Solomon, the public prosecutor, was arrested in this case. After filing the case, Solomon appeared at the Nooranad police station this morning. The station was released on bail as it was a bailable department.

Police had registered a case once morest regarding 200 Congress-CPI activists who were seen in the case. So far 18 people have been arrested in the case. 11 are CPI workers and 7 are Congress workers. Earlier, CPI leader and Bharanikawa block panchayat vice-president Sinu Khan and district Congress committee general secretary Manoj Sekhar were arrested in connection with the case.
