Thrissur: The Congress staged a protest at Palyekara Toll Plaza, which was raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The protest was organized under the leadership of Thrissur DCC.
A scuffle broke out between the policemen and Congress workers during the toll ringing strike demanding an end to corruption. Congress workers kept the toll gates open for two hours during the protest.
Meanwhile, Congress workers alleged that former MLA Anil Akkara and TN Prathapan MP were injured. The push and shove took place after the Congress workers tried to cross the police barricade.
Congress workers staged a sit-in protest in front of the toll office demanding action against the policemen who beat up the leaders. District Collector Krishna Teja and Rural SP Aishwarya Dongre reached the protest site.
The Congress workers ended their sit-in after they assured that action would be taken against the guilty officials.
