After collecting his first point the day before, Connor Bedard scored his first goal in the NHL on Wednesday, during the Chicago Blackhawks game, but his team lost 3-1 to the Boston Bruins.

The Hawks rookie took a shot with a tight angle that was easily blocked by Linus Ullmark. Bedard, however, continued behind the net where he recovered the puck and completed the spin to open the scoring.

At 18 years and 86 days old, he is the third youngest player in Hawks history to score his first goal.

Bedard also received his first tripping penalty and scared his team when he was slow to get up after crashing into the boards with about five minutes left in the third period.

He stayed in the match.

In his NHL debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, he collected an assist in a 4-2 victory.

Hawks forward Taylor Hall was injured during the game. Coach Luke Richardson said after the game that Hall would be evaluated on a weekly basis.

David Pastrnak led the Bruins’ attack by hitting the target twice, including his second into an empty net.
