Athens – The conservative Nea Dimokratia emerged as the clear winner of the general elections in Greece on Sunday. As the Interior Ministry announced on its website in the evening, Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ party received 40.5 percent of the votes. This gives her an absolute majority in Parliament. On the other hand, the left-wing Syriza of ex-Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras lost votes, receiving 17.8 percent.
