Vienna – Trade and crafts, above all the construction industry including ancillary sectors, are suffering from a slump in orders. “Unfortunately, we recorded a real, i.e. price-adjusted, minus in the first quarter,” reported Renate Scheichelbauer-Schuster, head of the federal division of trade and crafts in the Economic Chamber (WKÖ). Incoming orders and sales fell by 9.2 percent. “There is rarely such a sharp decline.” Now it is up to politicians to take action.
