Asunción, IP Agency.- The construction of the Bioceánica Bridge, financed by the right bank of Itaipu, is approaching 60 percent progress on both banks of the Paraguay River, between the cities of Carmelo Peralta and Puerto Murtinho (Brazil), technicians reported this week from the construction zone.
To date, the main deck of the access viaduct, both on the Paraguayan and Brazilian sides, has already been completed.
Likewise, progress is being made in the execution of the starting voussoirs of pylon 13, corresponding to the Paraguayan bank, with the placement of reinforcement formwork, sheaths and post-tensioning strands.
Concreting on this section will take place in the coming days. Currently, the last stage of elevation of this pylon is intensifying in order to reach its final level, reported the Binacional.
On the other hand, on the Brazilian side, pylon 14 is in the process of construction. The second brace beam has been built, which will allow the final lifting phase to begin to its final height.
Once the advance cars arrive from São Paulo (Brazil), the segments will be installed, using successive cantilevers, in the central and lateral sections of both pylons.
This bridge is part of the Bioceanic Corridor, a strategic work that will facilitate the connection between Paraguay and Brazil, promoting trade and development in the region. It is financed by Itaipu Binacional and is under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).
