Last week, we told you about the two caregivers implicated in a home located in Pecq. They shared, in a private discussion group, photos of elderly people in degrading situations. A union comes to their defense.
Degrading images of elderly people in a home were broadcast in a private group on social networks. The nurses behind the clichés are first threatened with dismissal for serious misconduct. They finally returned to the team a few days later. A decision supported by a union. “We can understand that these photos are shocking for a person.“, recognizes Marc Snappe, CSC regional secretary. “But they must be put in context and the press has not been informed of the whole context.“
But what is the context then? “I can’t tell you more“, indicates the trade unionist. “I prefer to reserve myself regarding the discussion that will take place with the authority.“
The photos were apparently taken several years ago in a medical context. But why did they reappear a few months ago in a new group? the question remains unanswered.

According to the AVIQ, the nursing home monitoring body, this is clearly mistreatment. “It’s a serious situation“, says Lara Kotlar, spokesperson for the AVIQ. “These are humiliating, degrading photos. You wouldn’t think that would happen. We were super shocked.“
The organization recommends a certain number of measures to prevent this from happening again. “The staff is shocked. And therefore, we must be transparent about what is happening and what will be put in place afterwards.“, continues the spokesperson. “We suggested that they call on Respect Senior, a non-profit organization which raises awareness and provides training in the fight against elder abuse.“
The CSC has requested an emergency council, which should take place this week.
