Israeli Minister: Dropping an “atomic bomb” on Gaza is one possibility
An Israeli minister sparked controversy with statements that placed dropping an atomic bomb on Gaza as “one of the possibilities” in the war launched by Israel on the Strip, while the Israeli Prime Minister responded to those statements by excluding him from government meetings indefinitely.
Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu said in an interview with Kol Parama Radio, reported by Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, today (Sunday), when the journalist asked a question: “Should an atomic bomb be dropped on Gaza?” The minister replied: “This is one of the Possibilities. I also hope that the prisoners will return, but there are costs in war. This is a way to examine what scares them and what will create deterrence.
Eliyahu said in his statements that “the Israeli army is dealing a strong blow to Hamas,” indicating that he is not 100 percent satisfied with the performance of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.
The Times of Israel reported on Sunday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suspended Eliyahu’s attendance at government meetings indefinitely after these statements.

Meanwhile, Yair Lapid, the leader of the Israeli opposition, commented on Amichai Eliyahu’s statements, saying: “A shocking and crazy statement from an irresponsible minister. He offended the families of the prisoners, harmed society, and harmed our international standing. Netanyahu must expel him from the government.”
The head of the Meretz Party, Zahava Galon, described the minister as “Zero son of Zero,” demanding that he send his sons to fight.
