Kim Nam-guk, an independent member of the Democratic Party who left the Democratic Party due to the controversy surrounding the possession of a large amount of virtual assets, appeared on the advisory committee of the Special Ethics Committee.

The Ethics Review Advisory Committee of the Special Committee on Ethics of the National Assembly held its second meeting today (15th) following the first meeting on the 8th and reviewed the disciplinary proposal for Congressman Kim.

Rep. Kim attended the meeting for the first time to directly explain the use of undisclosed information surrounding him, illegal presidential election funds, and money laundering allegations.

Rep. Kim met with reporters after completing his call on the advisory committee and said, “It is so absurd to claim that undisclosed information was used without any grounds.”

At the same time, he complained of regret, saying, “There were too many facts and wrong things among the reports,” and “I could not actively explain because there was a story from the party not to respond.”

After the meeting that lasted about two and a half hours, Yoo Jae-pung, advisory chairman, also came to me and said, “I asked a lot of questions to confirm the facts.”

The advisory committee plans to hold a third meeting on the 23rd, seek experts’ opinions, and finish the disciplinary discussion against Congressman Kim by the 29th.

Afterwards, the Special Committee on Ethics of the National Assembly deliberates on the opinions of the advisory committee to determine the level of disciplinary action, and the final decision is made if the consent of two-thirds or more is obtained at the plenary session of the National Assembly.
