As the COVID-19 mutant virus, Omicron, spread, there were already over 100,000 confirmed cases nationwide by 9 pm tonight.
From 00:00 to 9pm today, 10,870 people across the country have been confirmed with COVID-19.
This is the first time that the number of new confirmed cases has exceeded 100,000, and it is an increase of 16,642 from yesterday’s record high of 90,228 in the same time period.
This is more than double the number of 49,721 people in the same time zone on the 10th, a week ago, and more than four times the number of 22,345 people on the 3rd, two weeks ago.
As there is still time until midnight, when the counting ends, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced by the government tomorrow is expected to increase.
By region, Gyeonggi-do had the most with 3884, followed by Seoul with 25,672.
It was followed by Incheon with 6,812 people, Busan with 5,010, Gyeongnam with 4,114, and Daegu with 4,37.
The number of daily confirmed cases of Corona 19 exceeded 10,000 for the first time on the 26th of last month, and the number of confirmed cases more than doubled every week, exceeding 100,000 in about three weeks.
