China has become the first country to approve a vaccine once morest the Corona virus that is used by inhalation.
The vaccine was made by the Chinese company “Can Sino Biologics”, and contains ingredients similar to the injected vaccine produced by the same company, using a harmless virus as a vector of the genetic code that teaches the body how to fight Covid.
The company says that the Convidecia Air vaccine, which is inhaled as a fine mist, can provide good protection following just one breath.
Other researchers, including teams in Britain and the United States, are investigating nasal spray vaccines.
Scientists say this may give extra immunity to the lining of the nose and upper airways, where Covid usually enters the body.
The National Medical Products Administration of China granted Cansino approval to use its inhaled vaccine as a booster dose.
Trials indicate that it can increase protection in those who have already received the injected vaccine.
Meanwhile, the latest COVID-19 booster program has begun in England, Wales and Scotland.
Infections are declining across Britain, but health experts expect a resurgence of Covid and flu in the fall and winter.
