Coronavirus: 24 additional contaminations announced

Dakar, Feb 12 (APS) – In total, 24 additional contaminations with the new coronavirus have been recorded in the last 24 hours in Senegal, the Ministry of Health and Social Action announced on Saturday.

These new infections were detected from virological tests carried out on a sample of 1,608 individuals, corresponding to a positivity rate of 1.49%, indicated the Ministry of Health in its daily update on the situation of the epidemic in the country.

The contaminations of the last 24 hours have been divided between 21 contact cases who were followed by the health services and 3 others whose source of contamination is unknown to the health authorities.

At the same time, 70 patients tested negative and declared cured, while 329 others, including 3 in serious condition, are still under treatment in dedicated services or monitored at home, the Ministry of Health said in a press release. .

Since the start of the epidemic on its territory, on March 2, 2020, Senegal has officially declared 85,370 positive cases of Covid-19. Of those who contracted the virus, 83,062 recovered, 1,956 lost their lives.

On the vaccination front, 1,405,486 people have received at least one dose of vaccine, one year following the launch of a national campaign.
