Thiruvananthapuram – Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has openly admitted that there are small corruption problems in the cooperative sector in the state. The Chief Minister’s speech was at the Cooperative Congress. Corruption should be taken seriously. The Chief Minister pointed out that when the cooperative sector became strong, evil trends emerged. The Chief Minister said that strict action will be taken against the corrupt.

The Chief Minister indirectly criticized the ED’s investigation into the Karuvannur Co-operative Bank fraud. He pointed out that some people are uncomfortable with the growth of the cooperative sector. There are disputes between political parties. But he said that should not be the case with the government.

“Agencies outside Kerala are involved here. When the gold smuggling took place, it was the state government that asked the central agency to investigate. Nothing is said about what happened. There was a disturbance in an institution. Central agency arrived there. But they exonerated the main accuser. The things needed for political propaganda should be obtained from him. For that, the main accused was made a pardon witness.

“No employee should take loans undeservedly. The general body should check whether the board members or their relatives have taken loans. If the culprits are found after conducting the audit, they will be handed over to the police. What should not happen in Karuvannur happened. But strict action was taken. The irregularity that took place in 2011 was discovered recently. This cannot be done without the knowledge of the officials of the Cooperation Department. Therefore, the responsible officers were suspended,” said the Chief Minister.
