HOCKEY. Three goals from Jérémy Labrecque and two from Jovan Audet and Louis Nadeau led the Beaucerons de Sainte-Marie to an 8-0 victory Friday evening in Disraëli. However, the score was only 2-0 after the second period and it was during the last third that the visitors were able to put the match out of reach. Abigaël Fortier also scored in the victory.

However, the story was different the next day at the Caztel Center when Plessisville, leader in the standings, was a visitor. A goal from Gabriel Simoneau at 1:50 of overtime completed a comeback by the visitors who trailed 3-1 after two periods. Jérémy Labrecque, Louis Nadeau and Mathieu St-Cyr scored the three goals for the Beaucerons in the 2nd period.

Friday night in Saint-Joseph, the Beauce-Centre Bulldogs scored four unanswered goals in the third to defeat Montmagny 6-5. Samuel Mathieu and Jacob Charbonneau scored twice for the locals.

In Montmagny on Sunday, the Bulldogs still had a lot to do to overcome their opponent, leading 4-1 then 5-2 midway through the third period. The locals attempted a comeback with two goals, which was however insufficient, the Bulldogs escaping with the victory by a score of 5-4.

Senior hockey: Sainte-Marie maintains the lead

Leader in the standings of the West section and the general ranking of the Côte-du-Sud Hockey League, the Giovannina de Sainte-Marie once again experienced the joys of victory on Friday, notably thanks to a goal and two assists from Samuel Landry, en route to a 5-2 victory in front of Plastiques Moore of Saint-Damien.

The visitors started the game strong with two goals in the opening period. Giovannina, however, took control of the match with five unanswered goals thereafter. Nicolas Létourneau and Jason Breton took advantage of numerical advantages in the middle period to tie the game 2-2. Philippe Leclerc gave the locals a 3-2 lead with the only goal of the match scored at even strength. Samuel Landry made it 4-2 during a numerical inferiority, then William Dumont, with his 6th of the campaign while an opponent was in the penalty box, completed for the winners who dominated 46-31 in terms of shots to goal.

A schedule of six meetings will be on display next weekend. Three of these will take place on Friday, November 17, including the one between Sainte-Marie and Saint-Joseph at 9 p.m. The two teams will face each other again on Sunday at the Caztel Center at 4 p.m.
