Council of State admits tutelage to overturn appointment of mayor (e) Andree Uribe

On June 7, the Council of State admitted a tutelage filed by Andrés Felipe Rodríguez which seeks to overturn the appointment of Andree Uribe as mayor in charge, after the decision of President Iván Duque who chose the Secretary of Health from the list that Independientes gave him. to lead the Medellín mayor’s office during the suspension of Daniel Quintero.

What Rodríguez alleges is that decree 937 of 2022 by which the president appointed Uribe is invalid, since, according to him, neither the movement nor the significant group Independents exist and therefore the president had the power to choose. to a mayor in charge who was not related to them.

The Council of State also ordered President Duque, the Administrative Department of the Presidency and the Minister of the Interior, Daniel Palacios, once notified, to deliver a report related to the appointment process within two days.

He also denied the request for a precautionary measure in which Rodríguez requested the immediate suspension of Uribe from the post.

According to Rodríguez, when filing the guardianship, he realized that there are another 15 guardianships currently in process that seek to overturn the appointment of Uribe, who took office on June 1 and who has stated that he hopes to be alone for a few days because they trust that Quintero will return. again to the charge of his suspension for alleged participation in politics once the second round of the presidential elections is over. However, according to deputy Luis Peláez, the Attorney General’s Office has enough evidence to extend the suspension until September.
