Counter-Terrorism Operation in Ingushetia: Updates and Developments

Moscow. March, 3rd. INTERFAX.RU – The special operation in Ingushetia has been completed, the CTO regime in the city of Karabulak has been cancelled, the press service of the FSB Directorate for the Republic told Interfax.

“The head of the Russian FSB Directorate for Ingushetia – the head of the Operational Headquarters in the Republic of Ingushetia, Colonel M.O. Shevlyakov, decided to lift the counter-terrorism operation (CTO) regime, which was in effect from 19:30 on March 2, 2024 on part of the territory of the city of Karabulak,” – said the agency’s interlocutor.

According to him, in Karabulak on Rabochaya, Oskanova, Naberezhnaya and Dzhabagieva streets, by order of the head of the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Ingushetia, from 12:45 p.m., the legal regime of the CTO and the temporary restrictions in force during the specified period were canceled.

Earlier, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) reported that as a result of the counter-terrorism operation in Karabulak, six militants were killed.

“The identities of the bandits have been previously established. According to available data, they were adherents of the international terrorist organization ISIS (banned in the Russian Federation) and were involved in a number of terrorist crimes, including an attack on a traffic police post and the murder of three police officers in March 2023,” the NAC reported.

Three of the militants, including the gang leader, were on the federal wanted list.

The NAC reported that there were no casualties among law enforcement officers or civilian casualties.

“During the inspection of the clash site, automatic weapons, ammunition, grenades and an improvised explosive device were discovered,” the committee informs.
