Covid-19 is making a comeback at the start of the year, with a significant increase in the number of positive cases. During the week of January, the prevention department of the Ministry of Health and Social Action recorded 34 positive cases.

Doctor Mamadou Ndiaye, Director of Prevention, launched an alert during an intervention at the Rfm. “First of all, it is important to emphasize that Covid-19 has never disappeared. Although we have seen a significant decrease in cases, the recommended measures still remain relevant, in particular wearing a mask and washing hands. We remained at such a low level that we sometimes went a month or two without recording a case. However, at the end of December and beginning of January, we noted a regularity in the appearance of two or three cases,” explained Dr. Ndiaye.
He also reported that since the beginning of January 2024, the country has recorded a total of 34 positive cases.
