“Even if they are still high, the health indicators confirm the slowdown in the circulation of the virus”, notes the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Brittany in its health situation update this Friday.
As at the national level, Brittany has experienced an upturn in recent weeks, after reaching a record level of virus circulation at the height of the 5th wave.
33,601 new positive cases have been recorded in the past seven days in Brittany. This is a drop of more than 40% compared to the 57,284 cases recorded last Friday, almost equivalent to that recorded the previous week.
We are far from three weeks at more than 100,000 cases in January. However, the number of contaminations is still much higher than the figures of previous waves. “Collective vigilance must be maintained”, recalls the ARS.
For its part, the Breton incidence rate accentuates its fall. It plummets by 930.1 points to settle at 1,126.5 cases per 600,000 inhabitants. About one in 100 Bretons tested positive for covid this week, compared to more than three in 100 on January 28 and two in 100 last Friday.
The indicator is very close to the national average, of 1,104.52 cases per 100,000 inhabitants this Friday.
However, the positivity rate remains significantly above the national average in the region. However, it confirms its decline that began last week, which means that the virus is circulating less, regardless of the number of tests carried out.
The region’s positivity rate is 33.1%, down from 36.2% last Friday. At the national level, it fell below the 30% mark, now at 26.1%.
For the third week in a row, we deplore in Brittany a human toll at the highest. 80 people have died of covid in the past seven days. Last Friday, the 63 deaths recorded were already a record figure, now largely exceeded.
Hospitalizations are down in the region, with 561 covid patients including 55 in intensive care.
5,940 covid cases were recorded this week in Côtes-d’Armor, 40% less than last week. The department is still one of the least affected in Brittany. The incidence rate there is currently 1,099.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants against 1,990.7 on Friday February 11. The positivity rate is below the regional average, at 32.5%.
Finistère is also experiencing an improvement in the health situation, but it is now the most affected department in Brittany. A delay which is explained by a later drop in its incidence rate than in its neighbors.
10,746 cases have been recorded there this week, and the incidence rate is still above the regional (and national) average of 1,276.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate is also one of the highest in the region, with 34% positive tests this week.
6,947 new cases have been identified in the last seven days in Morbihan, a drop of 46% compared to last week. The fall in the incidence rate is also more accentuated there than in the other departments of the region. It goes from 2,076.5 to 1,067.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate is however the highest in Brittany, with 35.6% of positive tests.
9,968 positive cases were recorded this week in Ille-et-Vilaine. This is 8,020 less than last week. The incidence rate lost 970.5 points to 1,057.1. It is the lowest in the region. Like the positivity rate, 31.1%.
