Covid-19 increases the risk of Alzheimer’s disease in people over 65

“Two elements considered important in the development of Alzheimer’s disease are previous infections, especially viral infections, and inflammation”, said Prof. Pamela Davis, co-author of the study and a member of the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. “Given that Covid infection has been associated with central nervous system abnormalities, including inflammation, we wanted to test whether the virus might lead to an increase in Alzheimer’s diagnoses.”
