The Ministry of Health reported this Sunday 2,476 new cases of COVID-19, 13 deaths and a positivity of 12.6% in the last 24 hours at the national level, although with 2 regions exceeding 20%.
Meanwhile, new confirmed cases nationwide have decreased 15.4% in the last week, while in the last 14 days they have decreased by 22.9%. In addition, fifteen regions have reduced their cases in the last seven days, and 16 have also done so in the last two weeks.
Of the 2,476 new cases, 62% were diagnosed by antigen test, 25% originated by active case finding (BAC) and 11% of those notified are asymptomatic. Regarding the Metropolitan Region, it presents 57% by antigen, 24% by BAC and 9% of the reported cases are asymptomatic.
According to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Coquimbo, Maule, Biobío and La Araucanía. In particular, in the last report, O’Higgins (20.65%) and Ñuble (20.14%) were well above the national average.
Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Coquimbo, Valparaíso and Ñuble.
In this way, the total number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country reaches 5,087,555. Of this total, 8,040 patients are in the active stage, considering a 5-day isolation from the onset of symptoms or from taking the test, according to the Opening phase criteria. The recovered cases are 4,998,237.
Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours, 13 deaths were registered due to causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deaths amounts to 63,509 in the country.
As of yesterday, 128 people were hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 97 remained with mechanical ventilation support. Regarding the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 283 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 14,406 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported, reaching a total of 47,930,512 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 12.59% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 12.75%
Regarding the Health Residences, the country has 5 lodging facilities, with a total of 349 beds. The real occupancy at the national level is 21%, leaving a total of 185 beds available for use.
