The Legault government ended the state of health emergency linked to the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday morning.

This announcement is possible thanks to the adoption of Bill 28 aimed at ending the state of health emergency linked to the COVID-19 pandemic. The bill provides that all the decrees still active at the time of its adoption will remain in place until December 31, 2022, unless the government decides to abolish them.
Thus, the state of health emergency, which was first put in place on March 13, 2020, will have been renewed for a total of 115 weeks.
“Although the virus is still present, the epidemiological situation has greatly improved in recent weeks in Quebec. Thus, our government, with the adoption of the bill and as it had promised to do, lifts the state of emergency. This is an important step, which demonstrates the efforts that have been made in our collective fight against COVID-19,” said the Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé.
