Pharmacists in Estrie are not immune to supply problems regarding doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
While the provincial vaccination campaign against the virus is scheduled to begin Tuesday, the distribution of vaccine doses has been delayed and appointments must be canceled.
I was not going to participate in the COVID vaccination, but the clientele, traffic and demand were increasing day by day, so I had no choice, explains Allan Haddad, pharmacist-owner of Sherbrooke.
The doses received have already all found takers. It was filled in just three days, explains the pharmacist.
However, the pharmacist will not be able to receive all the doses requested.
We had requested 150 doses of the only vaccine that is available to pharmacies, Moderna. Of the 150 doses ordered, we received only 100 doses.
Allan Haddad says he recommends patients check other pharmacies to find a place where there are still doses available.
The pharmacist has also noticed an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases among his patients and employees.
However, he is pleased to see that people who do not have known health problems mainly experience flu symptoms.
