The Spanish Roberto Martinez, coach of the Portugal national team, placed the star and top scorer of Al-Nasr Saudi Arabia, Cristiano Ronaldo, as the most inspiring player in the team nicknamed the Brazil of Europe, stressing that he is still important to the team.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace in Portugal’s 3-2 victory over Slovakia in the seventh round of Euro 2024 qualifiers, leading his country to qualify for the finals scheduled to be held in Germany.
Roberto Martinez said, “Cristiano Ronaldo is fine. He plays a lot of minutes and scores a lot of goals with his club. He has great experience at the international level, and he represents an incentive and reference for young people.”
He continued: “It is not an individual sport, it is everyone’s game and there is no lack of commitment, but Ronaldo is still important to us in the Portugal national team.”
Ronaldo tops the Saudi Roshen League scoring charts with 10 goals, 3 goals behind his closest competitor, Moussa Dembele, Al-Ittifaq Club striker (7 goals). Ronaldo also scored 7 goals in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, only two goals behind the top scorer, Romelu Lukaku, the Belgium national team striker.
