As of this first of July, the new measures announced on the importation of food, hygiene and medicines to Cuba will come into force, both in accompanied luggage and in shipments.

Resolution 133/2023 of the Ministry of Finance and Prices recognizes that “limitations persist in the supply of food and other products in Cuba.”
Therefore, they consider that “it is prudent to extend this benefit until December 31, 2023 and incorporate medical supplies among the goods subject to this benefit.”
Likewise, they ensure that it is necessary to “extend its scope to non-commercial importation by passengers, as part of their unaccompanied baggage, up to the limit of five hundred United States dollars (500.00 USD) of equivalent value or weight, up to fifty kilograms (50 kg), in the value/weight ratio established by the General Customs of the Republic”.
CUBA CUSTOMS MEASURES BAGGAGE AND SHIPPING
In this way, if you are going to travel to Cuba you should know that from this first of July:
Until December 31, 2023, non-commercial imports are allowed, without limits in quantity and exempt from payment of customs tax on food, hygiene, medicines and medical supplies, as part of your accompanied luggage. It is also authorized until December 31, 2023, the non-commercial import of food, hygiene, medicines and medical supplies up to the limit of five hundred United States dollars (500.00 USD) of the equivalent value, up to fifty kilograms (50 kg). and exempt from the payment of the customs tax, by way of passengers as unaccompanied baggage. In addition, the customs value limit for non-commercial imports made by natural persons through shipments is increased, from USD 200.00 to USD 500.00. The exemption from payment of the customs tax is maintained for the first USD 30.00 of the value or its equivalent weight of 3.00 kg of the shipment, as well as the application of the excess of this of the 30% tariff rate. The non-commercial importation of food, hygiene, medicines and medical supplies imported by natural persons such as air, sea and postal shipments is authorized, up to a limit of 200 USD or equivalent weight up to twenty (20 ) kilograms. Be careful: the first and second measures of this Resolution are applied whenever the items classified as food or cleaning, as well as those identified as medicines and medical supplies, which make up part of the passenger’s baggage, are presented to Customs in separate packages from the rest. of the products. The benefits provided in point four of this Resolution apply provided that the content of the aforementioned shipments only includes items classified as food or hygiene, as well as those identified as medicines and medical supplies.
