PRICES IN CUBA

In this regard, the local radio journalist, Jesús Álvarez López, expressed his opinion on networks that the increase in prices by the state was not “the fault of the law of supply and demand”, since it was one thing to take into account the market and another very different “is to surrender to the market and let it decide everything, ignoring the regulatory role of the state”.

“Those who have been entrusted with the enormous responsibility of regulating prices should take good advice to avoid blunders in a matter where errors are costly, taking into account not only the true cost of production but also what is happening there in the market,” he added.

Finally, he pointed out that the state authorities should be led by “those who sell the cheapest products and in this way we not only avoid abuse but also force the inefficient to reduce the cost if they do not want to go bankrupt.”
