Cup promotion in All Saints for Rapid no alternative

In the middle of a serious crisis in the club, which not only has sporting facets, Rapid meets USV Allerheiligen in the second round of the ÖFB Cup on Thursday.

The green-whites have thrown the southern Styrians out of the competition twice since 2012, most recently in 2019 after three goals in the “rapid quarter hour”. Coach Ferdinand Feldhofer and his team need a win just to counteract the bad mood. The more convincing it turns out, the better.

“Of course we are the clear favourites”

“Of course we are the clear favorites and we are really looking forward to this task, even though it is clear that we are not in an easy situation after the last results. But the team is absolutely intact, which was also proven by the performance in our home game against Sturm, in which we were unfortunately not rewarded with points”, Feldhofer once again referred to the 1:2 defeat against Graz last Sunday.

Feldhofer meets an old friend again

At All Saints’ Day he meets an old friend and companion who will take a seat on the opposing coach’s bench: Feldhofer played with Bernd Windisch, who is also 42, in Styrian national teams when they were young before they parted ways. Allerheiligen is currently in 15th and penultimate place in the table of the Central Regional League and has not yet won. The exception is the Cup, where promotion was achieved in round two with a 5-0 away win at SV Frauental.
