CUPRA continues its offensive in the passion car market with the CUPRA DarkRebel showcar, unveiled at Volkswagen Group Night before being presented on the CUPRA stand at the IAA in Munich.
The CUPRA Dark Rebel is the first car created entirely in CUPRA virtual space. The result is a two-seater, 100% electric sports car with a devilish look. A disruptive UFO in the policed world of the electric car. It’s crazy, it’s unlikely to see the road, but it’s refreshing.
More than 270 000 configurations from the CUPRA Tribe, including brand ambassadors like actor Daniel Brühl, unforgettable interpreter of Niki Lauda in the movie Rush, helped shape the design of the CUPRA DarkRebel showcar. Data collected by the online Hyper Configurator was fed into the final design of the showcar which was revealed in its physical version at the IAA in Munich.

The beast is bestial and massive with dimensions of 4.5 meters long, 2.2 meters wide and 1.3 meters high. The DarkRebel’s doors open to a height of 2.2 meters, giving it the air of an evil moth. The set reflects well the sporting soul of the vehicle desired by the contributors.

The CUPRA DarkRebel also defies design rules inside. Upon entering the vehicle, passengers find themselves in an extreme, radical environment, which is intended to be welcoming, but a little intimidating, it must be admitted. So, it’s successful! The key element of this passenger compartment is the central column, with its asymmetrical shapes and sculptural appearance. Manufactured using the latest metal 3D printing technology, it finds its place in the immediate vicinity of the driver, as if sulking about a possible passenger. The Supersport bucket seats are covered in 3D knitted fabric and supported by a structure made of crystal clear material and copper inserts. The steering wheel, finally, combines the geometries of the racing world with the interactivity of the gaming world. Fun electric, we want more.
