In Turkey, Muzaffer Kayasan has tested positive continuously for 14 months. The 56-year-old leukemia patient has the longest known Covid infection in Turkey, doctors say. The reason for this may lie in his weakened immune system.
Due to the ongoing infection, Kayasan cannot receive vaccination according to Turkish vaccination rules. However, data from the Leukemia Society Leukemia & Lymphoma Society show that a quarter of those affected do not produce any detectable antibodies even following two doses of a vaccination.
