Customs Intervention at Saint-Ghislain March: Unpaid Excise Duties and Negotiations for Fines

2023-07-13 19:21:00

Several teams of customs officers intervened this Thursday around 6:30 p.m. in Fraire (Walcourt), where the festivities of the Saint-Ghislain march began. They had obviously been informed that the organizers had procured their “drop” in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, without paying excise duties.

After negotiation, the walkers had to pay a fine to regularize their situation. The bottles of alcohol concerned, the number of which is unknown, were not confiscated and the canteens will finally be able to rinse their throats this weekend. The customs officers left the scene around 8:30 p.m.
