Kozhikode – Kozhikode resident Faiz Ashraf Ali had only one goal when he cycled through the streets of Georgia yesterday, which was the World Bicycle Day: to ride a bicycle and make history in London. Faiz, son of the late Ashraf and Fauzia of Thalakulathur Concert Hall, has been a bicycle lover since long. He was an employee of Wipro. He quit his job to travel to his dreams. In 2019, he traveled from Kozhikode to Singapore by bicycle for the first time. Traveled about 8000 km through the countries of Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia.

He reached Singapore in 104 days. Faiz started his trip to London to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. The journey carries messages of health care, world peace, ensuring zero-carbon and anti-drugs. The plan is to travel 30,000 km through 35 countries and reach London in 450 days. Fais started the journey with the help of Team Echo Wheelers and Rotary International.

Thiruvananthapuram minister V. Sivankutty flagged off the journey on August 15. Faiz is now passing through Tbilisi, Georgia. Georgia is the 11th country to pass through Faiz’s cycle. Traveling on American company’s Sarladisk trucker bicycle. Faiz Ali is a member of Rotary Club of Calicut Sunrise. Wife Dr. Azmin Faiz and his sons Fahsin Omar and Isin Nahel are supporting Faiz’s dream journey.
