Cyclone ‘Biporjoy’ Predicted to Hit Gujarat Coast: Latest Updates and Evacuation Measures

AHMEDABAD – Cyclone ‘Biporjoy’, which is standing over the Arabian Sea, will reach the Kutch coast of Gujarat by tomorrow evening. 21,000 people within 10 kilometers of the coast have been evacuated due to warnings that the winds will cause massive damage. The process to evacuate more people will be completed by this evening. Officials informed that central and state disaster management forces are ready to face any situation.

Ahmedabad IMD Director Manorama Mohanty said that the cyclone will make landfall near Jakhau port in Kutch with a speed of up to 150 km per hour by tomorrow evening. According to the India Meteorological Department, the cyclone is most likely to affect Kutch, Dwarka and Jamnagar districts of Gujarat. There is also a warning of heavy rain. It is expected that the wind will then weaken and enter South Rajasthan.
