D-backs acquire Kyle Lewis from Mariners

The D-backs have reached an agreement with the Mariners for a trade for outfielder Kyle Lewis in exchange for catcher/outfielder Cooper Hummel.

The 27-year-old Lewis, who was the 2020 AL Rookie of the Year, made his major league debut playing 18 games, finishing with an .885 OPS and six home runs in 75 plate appearances. The following year during the pandemic-shortened season, he hit .262/.364/.437 with 11 homers in 242 at-bats.

Hummel, also 27, made his major league debut in 2022 and hit .176/.274/.307 with three home runs and four steals in 66 games with Arizona. In 33 games with Triple-A Reno this year, he posted a .950 OPS with six home runs.
