Daegu defeated Kim Do-hoon’s Lion City 3-0

In the Asian Champions League, K-League 1 Daegu FC lost to Singapore champions Lion City Sailors without tall striker Kim Shin-wook.

Daegu lost 3-0 in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) Group F 2nd leg match held at Buri Ram City Stadium in Thailand by conceding the winning goal to Singaporean naturalized striker Song Eui-young from Korea.

Daegu, which could not continue the momentum of winning 7-0 in the first match against Shandong Taishan (China), sank to 3rd place (1 win, 1 loss, 3 points), and Lion City took 2nd place ( 1 win, 1 loss, 3 points).

Coach Do-Hoon Kim, who led Ulsan Hyundai until 2020 and took the helm of Lion City in May last year, was the first match he played against a Korean team after advancing to Singapore.

In Lion City, striker Kim Shin-wook from the national team is a member of Daegu, so he was considered a target of caution, but Kim Shin-wook did not play.

In the 13th minute of the first half, Daegu couldn’t create a scene except for that Lamas’ long-distance shot from the right side of the penalty spot was blocked by a save from the opposing goalkeeper.

On the other hand, Lion City took the lead in the 21st minute when Song Eui-young headered Maxim Restien’s cross with a header.

Daegu tried to break through the attack path by increasing their flank activity in the early part of the second half, but in the 6th minute of the second half, Hong Chul’s daring overlapping shot was blocked by the keeper, and one minute later, Lee Geun-ho’s mid-range shot went out of the goal and swallowed a disappointment.

In the 18th minute of the second half, Geun-Ho Lee’s shot from a ground cross from the right hit the left post.

Rather, Lion City once again scored an additional goal on a counterattack.

In the 26th minute, Diego López made a right-footed shot from a Restien cutback to make it 2-0.

Lion City secured a 3-0 victory with a header from Pedro Henrique in the 35th minute of the second half.

In the 44th minute of the second half, Daegu veteran fullback Hong Chul kicked the ball and kicked Song Eui-young’s ass, but received a red card and was unable to play in the next game.

The Jeonnam Dragons, which became the first K League 2 (Second Division) team to perform on the ACL stage, also lost 2-0 to Pathum United (Thailand) in the second match of Group G held at Pathum Thani Stadium, Thailand.

Jeonnam, with 1 win and 1 loss (3 points), placed 2nd in the group after Patum, who had 1 win and 1 draw (4 points).
