The Vienna City Council decided on the SPÖ’s long-standing core concern and built a turning track to relieve the load on the S80

Vienna (OTS/SPW-K) – After many years of persistent demands and intensive negotiations, the time has finally come: the city of Vienna is implementing a long-standing core concern of the SPÖ and is building a turning track to relieve the busy S-Bahn line S80. “This measure marks a decisive step forward in making public transport in our city more efficient, reliable and user-friendly,” says Donaustadt SPÖ local councilor Luise Däger-Gregori.

The installation of the turning track is not only a response to the constant growth in commuter numbers, but also a future-oriented project that increases the capacity of public transport and at the same time ensures better connections and shorter waiting times. The S80 currently only runs twice an hour. “With the new turning track, the S80 express train will in future pass through its stations every 15 minutes – i.e. four times an hour. This is a massive upgrade of the line and increases the quality of life of public transport users,” emphasizes Däger-Gregori positively. This project illustrates how long-term planning and ongoing commitment can lead to real improvements in the everyday lives of Viennese people.

“We would like to thank everyone who worked tirelessly to make this project a reality, as well as everyone whose support helped us reach this important milestone. We look forward to seeing the positive changes that this project will bring to our city and especially to the Danube city. We are firmly determined to work together on a more sustainable, well-connected and efficient future for Vienna!” concludes Däger-Gregori.
