Japan representative MF Daichi Kamata (25), who belongs to Eintracht Frankfurt, is believed to be close to transferring to Benfica, a powerhouse of the Primeira Liga (Portugal 1st division). Since May of this year, multiple clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United and West Ham United have been interested in Daichi Kamata’s move. However, Frankfurt’s Markus Kreche SD (sports director) revealed that he was in contact with the player’s side to extend the contract when he responded to an interview with German media in early last month.
However, on the 28th of this month, the possibility of a transfer to Benfica emerged. “Sky Sports” reports that the player’s side has informed Glasner of his intention to leave this summer and has reached a personal agreement with Benfica. Negotiations between the clubs are also underway and are expected to settle at a transfer fee of €10 million (approximately 1.4 billion yen) to €15 million (approximately 2.1 billion yen).

After the game, Glasner said in an interview with Sky Sports: “I’ve talked a lot with Daichi over the last few days, but he will definitely stay in Frankfurt. I think he’s focused on this club. I understand,” he commented.
“Our objective is to renew his contract with Kamada. He has one year left on his contract, but he feels comfortable at this club and understands what it means to be here. I don’t know what will happen in the market, but he will continue to walk with us,” he said, indicating that staying in Frankfurt is the default route.
