Vienna – The day following the presentation of the 2022 sports report in the National Council, Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) went to an elementary school in Vienna-Donaustadt to adapt a legendary quote from Helmut Schmidt in his own way. “Anyone who has visions should go to the doctor,” said the then German Chancellor in 1980 during the SPD’s federal election campaign. Kogler’s version on Thursday: “The implementation of this vision will ensure that people have to go to the doctor much later.” The Sports Minister acknowledged the cross-party efforts to ensure daily physical activity in kindergartens and schools, which will be implemented in the 2024/25 school year following a one-year pilot phase.
