When the summer holidays begin in eastern Austria, a cold front crosses the country from the west. In Upper Austria it is Freitag split in two: while the sun should still be shining in the lower Mühlviertel and in the central area in the morning, clouds will prevail in the rest of the country. In the Innviertel and in the Salzkammergut, rain showers are also to be expected later in the morning, which will spread to the east at noon.
Rain break in the afternoon
Thunderstorms are expected in the southern highlands on Friday. Rainfall is expected to stop in the afternoon. “The clouds can loosen up,” predicts Geosphere Austria. But it’s only a pause: “In the evening there will be rain showers again in the Innviertel and in the Salzkammergut.” Temperatures reach up to 15 degrees in the morning and rise to 23 to 27 degrees during the day.

Very unsettled weather is imminent Saturday before. The main focus of rain is in the lower Mühlviertel and in the southern highlands. In the course of the day, the sky should gradually clear and the rain showers should subside. The wind is unpleasant, which makes the temperatures (maximum values between 19 and 23 degrees) appear even cooler.
Embedded in a south-westerly current, provides on Sunday a weak disturbance until the evening for an interplay of sunny intervals and dense clouds. It rains again and again, especially over the Alpine peaks. The wind gets involved again, according to the meteorologists from Geosphere Austria, it reaches peaks of around 40 km/h. A refreshing bath is also out of the question on Sunday: the maximum values are between 20 and 24 degrees.
Sun in the north, rain in the south
To start of the week the north of Upper Austria is weather-favoured. There the sun comes out, in contrast to the southern half of the country, where thunderstorms and rain showers are announced. The temperatures rise up to 25 degrees.
Also the Tuesday will bring a mix of sun and clouds from today’s perspective. “Only at the northern edge of the Alps does the shower tendency remain elevated,” says Geosphere Austria.
